Happy Memorial Day! I hope you all had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather today. Last night I saw a documentary that really helped me remember what we celebrate today.
The Hornet’s Nest is a documentary about the US military in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Kunar Province is along the border with Pakistan and is considered the most violent area in Afghanistan right now. For our family, the documentary hit very close to home. My brother served a year in Kunar province, and was involved in Operation Strong Eagle III, which is a big part of the movie. On this Memorial Day, I still don’t feel like we fully grasp how grave and serious the situation is in Afghanistan. This documentary takes one small step in helping shed light on the amazing sacrifices our troops are marking during America’s longest war.
